Brooks Adrenaline Vs. Asics Gel Nimbus – A head to head comparison

In the above sections, we have provided you with all the broad differences between Brooks Adrenaline and Asics Gel Nimbus.

Below, you will find a more detailed comparison of all the parts of both of these running shoes.

If you don’t enjoy reading all those long texts that are ahead, just reference the pictures. They will provide you with a lot of details that we have covered in the sections below.

Otherwise, just read on…

Outsole

Both Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 and Asics Gel-Nimbus 23 have blown rubber on the outsole.

However, Brooks calls them HPR plus, and in Asics it is AHAR+. Both of these materials are very durable and will last you somewhere between 300-500 miles.

To provide you with optimal flexibility at the forefoot, both of these running shoes have segmentation or deep grooves in the forefoot.

Also, this segmented crash pad of Adrenaline is great at handling any kind of foot landing thus providing you with excellent protection.

Brooks Adrenaline has a deep groove at the start of the forefoot or near the balls of the foot.

Apart from the forefoot, this blown rubber is also present on the high impact areas like the heels of both of these shoes.

This provides you with optimal durability in both of these shoes.

However, both of these shoes are meant for road-running and are not good on the trails.

They will work great on surfaces like treadmills, tar roads, cobblestones, or other smoother surfaces.

However, if you take them out on the trails, they will lose their longevity significantly and you will be risking injuries.

Midsole

The midsole of these two running shoes is significantly different.

Brooks and Asics have come up with their proprietary technologies and provides you with great comfort in their unique ways.

Brooks’s comfort is softer and buttery, whereas Asics has is a responsive plush cushioning.

In the midsole, Brooks Adrenaline has DNA LOFT. Which is a very soft and cushy material and will provide you with cushioning.

Also, in this version of Adrenaline, DNA LOFT is present till the tip of these running shoes, providing you with a more wholesome comfort.

For Asics Gel Nimbus, has gel technology for impact absorption and will provide you with excellent cushioning.

Apart from that, it has FlyteFoam Propel Technology and FlyteFoam technology that creates the lightest possible midsole.

However, although very lightweight, this midsole will provide you with great comfort and plushness and will provide you with excellent cushioning at every step.

Upper

The upper of Brooks Adrenaline is made from 3D Fit Print mesh. This is a new streamlined, engineered mesh that offers structure and proper fit. This improved structure of the mesh helps Adrenaline to shave some of its weight.

Asics Gel Nimbus, on the other hand, has a soft engineered mesh that is breathable, lightweight, and made from sustainable material.

Since this is made from recycled materials, this makes these shoes more environment-friendly.

Width-wise, Brooks Adrenaline has more number of widths like Normal, Narrow B, Wide 2E, and Extra Wide 4E for men and Normal, Narrow 2A, Wide D, and Extra Wide 2E for women.

For Asics Gel-Nimbus, this is a drawback. There is only the normal size that is available for both men and women. So, this may be bit of a problem for runners with wider feet.

However, with sizes, Nimbus will provide you with more sizes for men starting from 6.0 to 16.0 whereas, in Brooks Adrenaline, it is from 7.0 to 15.0.

This difference doesn’t exist in both of the women’s version of these shoes and provides you with sizes from 5.0 to 13.0.

At the time of writing this post, there are more color variations available for Adrenaline whereas, for Nimbus, the number of color choices is only a handful.

Weight

Interestingly, although Asics Gel-Nimbus uses the most lightweight technology in its midsole from Asics to date, it is still slightly heavier than Brooks Adrenaline.

Brooks Adrenaline weighs around 9.1oz/258g for women and 10.4oz/294.8g for men.

Whereas, Asics Gel Nimbus weighs around 9.2oz/261g for women and 10.9oz/309g for men.

Price

There is some price difference between Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 and Asics Gel Nimbus 23.

Adrenaline is priced around $130 whereas Gel Nimbus is priced around $150.

However, both of these prices are very steep and you may not want to go for it.

But if any of these shoes have caught your fancy, then you may go for their previous version which is excellent running shoes but is significantly lower in prices.

Brooks Adrenaline Vs. Saucony Guide – A head to head comparison

In the above sections, we have covered all the broad differences between Brooks Adrenaline and Saucony Guide.

In the following sections, we will go deeper into the details of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 and Saucony Guide 13.

We have summarized all the differences in the images below.

You may get all the details you are looking for from there, otherwise, just read on…

Outsole

Both Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 has blown rubber in the outsole whereas Saucony Guide 13 has a lighter and more supple crystal rubber. As per Saucony, this rubber is slightly more durable than traditional carbon rubber.

However, the major difference in the outsole is how the segmentation or the deep grooves are present in the shoes.

Brooks Adrenaline has a deep groove at the start of the forefoot or near the balls of the foot or in the area known as a segmented crash pad.

With the use of this new rubber material in Saucony, the treads of Saucony Guide have become thinner. However, they don’t impair the shoe’s grip.

The treads in both of these shoes will keep you stable even on the rougher surfaces and we have not heard about any grip issues on the cobblestones.

However, you should not take out these shoes on the trails as they are meant for smoother surfaces and will reduce their lifetime.

Midsole

The midsole of these two running shoes differs a lot in terms of material.

However, when it comes to comfort and cushioning, both of these midsoles do an excellent job.

The midsole material of Brooks Adrenaline GTS is made from DNA LOFT. It a blend of EVA Foam and air and will provide you with supreme cushioning.

Till the last version, this material extending from the heel to the midfoot. However, from this version, which is Brooks Adrenaline 21, DNA LOFT extends from heel to the forefoot.

This will provide you with extreme comfort from heel to toe.

For Saucony Guide, the midsole is made from the new PWRRUN material. It is basically a TPU material and is lighter, bouncier, flexible, and more durable than EVA foam.

It is great at shock absorption and will provide you with exceptional comfort throughout your run.

The heel-to-toe drop in these two running shoes differs significantly. Brooks Adrenaline GTS has a drop of 12mm whereas for Saucony Guide it is 8mm.

Also, in Brooks Adrenaline, there are Holistic GuideRails which is responsible for the stability that this running shoe provides. For Saucony Guide, it has the medial TPU material which keeps your feet stable.

Upper

The upper of Brooks Adrenaline is made with 3D Fit Print mesh. This is a new streamlined, engineered mesh that offers structure and proper fit. This improved structure of the mesh helps Adrenaline to shave some of its weight.

Saucony has reverted back to its older fit and now you don’t have the ISOFIT. So, now, you don’t have that separate inner fit sleeve in Saucony Guide and you have that traditional lacing model.

It also has a more durable mesh now but some users mentioned that they found it a bit less breathable.

Width-wise, Brooks Adrenaline has more number of widths like Normal, Narrow B, Wide 2E, and Extra Wide 4E for men and Normal, Narrow 2A, Wide D, and Extra Wide 2E for women.

However, there are a limited number of toe-box widths available for Saucony Guide for both men and women. You will only get regular and wide fits.

If you compare the sizes that are available for Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 and Saucony Guide 13 are also somewhat different. There is no difference in the sizes available for the men’s shoes. For both the shoes, it is from 7.0 to 15.0 for men. However, for women, Adrenaline has from 5.0 to 13.0 and Guide has from 5.0-12.0.

Weight

In terms of weight, both Brooks Adrenaline GTS and Saucony Guide are not much different.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS weighs around 9.1oz/258.0g for women and for men it weighs around 10.4oz/294.8g.

Saucony Guide weighs around 9.3oz/264g for the women’s version and for the men’s version it weighs around 10.2oz/289.2g.

Price

From the point of view of price, Brooks Adrenaline is a bit more expensive than the Saucony Guide.

Adrenaline will cost you a little more than $120 whereas Saucony will cost you near $120.

However, if you don’t want to spend so much on these two running shoes, you may as well pick up the previous version.

Since the launch of this current version of these running shoes, prices of the earlier versions, that is, Saucony Guide 12 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 have dropped drastically.

Concept2 Model D Vs. Dynamic – A head to head comparison

We have covered all the broad differences between these two rowing machines.

Below we have covered all the features and compared them in detail.

Also, we have provided some infographics for your easy understanding…

Now, without any delay, let’s start off with the rest of the comparison.

Seat height

The seat height of the Concept2 Dynamic is a bit more than Concept2 Model D.

The Concept2 Dynamic has a seat height of around 21 inches or 53.34 cm and the seat height of Concept2 Model D is around 14 inches or 36 cm.

This seat height of Dynamic is a bit more than the seat height of a chair and is 7 inches more than the Concept2 Model D.

However, this seat height is very comfortable for elderly people and those who cannot sit down at a lower level.

Also, this higher seating position will give you a real feel of like seating in a real boat.

However, functionality wise there is no difference or any other specific advantage of Concept2 Dynamic.

Monitor

Both Concept2 Model D and Concept2 Dynamic comes with the advanced PM5 performance monitor.

This monitor will help you measure your performance in real-time. This will also help you adjust your workout based on this and hence your workout efficiency will increase manifold.

Also, you will get an automatic ‘Just Row’ mode that you can use to start your workout with. However, you may also, use this monitor to configure a customized workout routine just for yourself so that you can train at your optimal level.

The PM5 performance monitor is also capable of measuring your pace, watts, strokes per minute (spm), and calories which is enough for you to measure your performance.

Also, you will be able to measure your own progress by comparing it with your previous performance. That is enough motivation for you to continue your workout routine.

This performance monitor will store your workout data in its internal memory or you can transfer your data to a USB drive for storage.

Also, when not in use, this monitor required 2 D cells to power itself. However, when you are working out, it will derive its power from the flywheel itself and will save the battery life.

It has a backlit LCD and you will not have to squint your eyes to read the data. Also, you can use heart rate monitor straps that have ANT+ compatibility with these rowing machines. They can connect wirelessly Bluetooth.

You can use the inbuilt games as your workout guide whenever your rowing becomes monotonous. This will keep you competitive and will take away the feeling of working out alone.

Flywheel And Damper

The Flywheel placement of these rowing machines is completely different.

For Concept2 Model D the flywheel is placed right in front of you with the PM5 performance monitor attached to it.

However, for Concept2 Dynamic, the flywheel is placed at the back at the righthand side of the monorail.

Although the placement of the flywheels is different, there is no difference in the way that these two flywheels perform.

You will get that same dependable performance from both of these rowing machines and they will not let you down.

Chain or Cord

Although the performance of these rowing machines is on par with each other, there are some differences.

The kind of chain or cord used in them is different.

For Concept2 Model D, you have a nickel-plated steel chain. This is highly durable and will not rust and also, requires minimal maintenance.

However, Concept2 changed a thing in their Dynamic model and it has a high strength synthetic drive cord. This is also very durable and required minimal maintenance.

Also, since, the drive cord reduces the overall weight, it makes the handle return force lighter that is more similar to the feel of rowing in a boat.

If you are concerned about how to replace the cord, this nifty little video will provide you with a step by step guidance.

_builder_version="4.6.6"]

Footrests and Handles

Adjustable footrests are present in Concept2 Model D. This footrest is big enough to accommodate almost any size of feet.

Also, the handles are ergonomically designed. This makes it feel comfortable in your hand. Also, the handle features a 10-degree bend that allows you to row with a natural arm and hand position.

For the Concept2 Dynamic model, the footrest is free to move back and forth, and the drive cord connects this with the handle. This also helps to transmit the combined leg and upper body force to the flywheel.

Finish

Both of these rowing machines are great to look at with Concept2 Dynamic gives you a visual compact feel.

However, the finish of both of these rowing machines is the same.

Concept2 Model D and Concept2 Dynamic have powder coating finish that provides it with a matt look and feels.

However, both of them are aesthetically pleasing to look at.

Another minor difference between these two is that Concept2 Model D is available in both black and grey colors whereas Concept2 Dynamic is available only in grey which somewhat dampens the charm.

Assembly

Assembling both Concept2 Model D and Dynamic is not a problem at all.

Although at the first look this may seem intimidating, it is an absolute piece of cake.

The assembling instruction is great and it will take around 20-30 mins to put it all together.

If you still cannot figure out, here is a little video that will surely help you out:

Concept2 Model D Assembling Instructions:

Concept2 Dynamic Assembling Instructions:

Space required & storage

The total space requirement for Model D is around 9 feet X 4 feet or 274 cm X 122 cm. This is the total amount of space that you will need in order to perform the rowing properly.

This space is perfect if you have an inseam of up to 38 inches. If you have a longer inseam then you will have to go for the extra-long monorail.

Also, for this, the space requirement for the rowing machine also increases proportionately.

Although, the above-mentioned space is when you are rowing, however, the actual assembled space requirement for Model D is 8 ft X 2 ft or 244 cm X 61 cm.

However, you can easily separate Concept2 Model D into two pieces and transport them using the built-in caster wheels to a convenient storage location.

When folded this rowing machine needs a space of 25 inches X 33 inches X 54 inches or 63.5 cm X 83.8 cm X 137.2 cm.

However, the space requirement for Concept2 Dynamic is a bit less when fully assembled.

The total amount of assembled space required for this rowing machine is around 6.3 ft X 2 ft or 193 cm X 62 cm.

For comfortably rowing on it, you will need a total space of 7.5 ft X 4 ft or 229 cm X 122 cm.

For storage, you will need 6.3 ft X 2 ft. However, you have caster wheels available to transport it to a storage location.

Maintenance

How to care for Concept2 Model D Indoor Rower?

The Concept2 Model D indoor rower has little maintenance and if you stick to the below-mentioned points, you have a virtually indestructible rower.

Daily
