Both of these running shoes are designed for daily running as well as for long-distance running.

If you are training for a marathon, these running shoes will be perfect for you.

However, the biggest difference between Brooks Ghost and Adrenaline is the way they provide support.

Also, to some extent, Brooks Ghost is a bit more flexible than Adrenaline.

Brooks Ghost supports smaller feet sizes whereas Brooks Adrenaline supports bigger feet as well.

However, the starting size of Adrenaline is not meant for runners with smaller feet sizes.

The number of toe-box widths available in Adrenaline is more than that of Brooks Ghost.

Another way these two shoes are similar is the way that they provide you cushioning and comfort and Brooks Adrenaline takes it one step further.

So, basically, both of these running shoes are meant to provide you with premium cushioning and right-out-of-the-box comfort which is meant to last for an extended period of time.

Both of them are very pleasant to look at and come with the new, modern look and feel of Brooks.

Also, the design is such that they will push you to perform at a higher level and you will get cushy satisfaction at every step.

Now that we know what these two running shoes are and whom they are meant for, let’s take a look at the core specifications of both of them.

This will help you to zero in on a particular choice, before making a purchase decision.

Core Specifications: Brooks Ghost Vs Adrenaline GTS

Brooks Ghost 14 vs Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22

Up until now, you have seen the main differences and similarities between these two running shoes.

In the next sections, we will be providing you with more core information to help you decide which one of these two is the best fit for your needs.

This will not only help with your running style but will also take your running performance to the next level.

So, sit tight and make sure you read all the information and understand it fully.

Otherwise, you will be opening yourself for unwanted errors and injuries.

So, grab your tub of popcorn, this is going to be a long read…

Let’s begin…

Brooks Ghost Specifications

The Brooks Ghost 14 is a very premium-looking shoe. It will suit perfectly your elegance and style.

The upper of these running shoes have engineered mesh which shaves off a lot of weight from these shoes.

Also, this makes these shoes look more elegant. To add to this elegance, these running shoes have a shaded pattern on their sides whose transparency decreases gradually towards the heels giving it a very elegant yet funky look.

The contrasting bootie enhances the appeal of these shoes along with the bordered shoelaces.

On the sides, there is a clean Brooks logo which improves the midfoot fit of these running shoes.

The shoe is a bit pointy and helps in a springy movement which is a symbol that will help you with your speed and performance.

Also, they come in a lot of colors so you can pick one which perfectly suits your style.

Below is a list of innovative technologies that Brooks uses to make your every step and every ride comfortable:

  • 3D Fit Print
  • Segmented Crash Pad
  • DNA LOFT
  • BioMoGo DNA

Now let’s take a closer look at each of these innovative features so that you can better understand what to expect from them.

Overall, Brooks Ghost 14, has done a lot of upgrades to help you provide a more comfortable ride.

3D Fit Print

3D Fit Print is a revolutionary process in which Brooks uses advanced screen-print technology.

This creates the engineered structure of the upper of these shoes.

This helps in improving shoe structure and flexibility.

Also, this helps to maintain the lighter weight of these shoes.

The whole idea behind 3D Fit Print is that it creates a zonal theme that links all the overlays to the lacing rows.

This may seem a small detail but every time you pull your laces, the entire upper of this running shoe adjusts to your feet and not the other way around.

Result?

You get a fantastic customized fit every time you lace up.

Segmented Crash Pad

This is one of the notable differences between Brooks Ghost Vs. Adrenaline.

Brooks Ghost 14 comes with a segmented crash pad.

Now, what exactly is a segmented crash pad?

According to Brooks, it is a fully integrated shock absorption system that is shaped like a caterpillar.

It has the following purposes:

  • Accommodate any foot landing to maximize efficiency
  • Provide cushion
  • Create a smooth heel-to-toe transition

This segmented crash pad is present on the outsole near the forefoot.

So, it helps to provide your toes with a lot of protection.

This is especially important if you are someone who has some kind of special foot condition like Morton’s Neuroma or Sesamoiditis.

For bunions also this is very beneficial as it will absorb a lot of shocks and doesn’t let it aggravate.

Most of the running shoe midsoles are made from EVA foam.

It is soft and highly shock absorbing. However, it doesn’t provide you with very soft and plush comfort.

So, Brooks came up with a new technology called DNA LOFT.

This is an enhancement over Super DNA and will provide you with much plush comfort.

Now, what exactly is DNA LOFT?

DNA LOFT is a blend of EVA foam, rubber, and air.

The usage of rubber in the blend makes it durable whereas the other two components make this midsole very soft.

Otherwise, only the use of air with EVA foam would have made the midsole squishy and it would have easily packed out underweight.

However, now blending with rubber you got a very comfortable sole which is very durable also.

Brooks has made this a standard in both Ghost 14 and Adrenaline.

BioMoGo DNA is a proprietary midsole technology of Brooks which provides a long-lasting cushioning.

It is also environment-friendly. There is a non-toxic natural additive present in the soles.

This encourages anaerobic bacteria to chew away the midsole 50 times faster once it hits an enclosed, active landfill.

Now that we have seen the specifications for Brooks Ghost 14, let’s take a look at Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22.

If you like comfort and plush feeling under your feet, then you will love Adrenaline GTS.

To be consistent with their modern and upgraded look, Adrenaline GTS also comes with 3D Fit Print.

This is a beautiful and elegant-looking running shoe that has diagonal half stripes at the sides.

Also, the dotted look of the front portion of the upper extends from the toe box area to the lacing section, collar, and heel area.

Combining the diagonal lines and the dotted structure gives this running shoe a very premium look.

Also, on both sides of the shoe near the mid-section, there are Brooks logo overlays.

The overlays give more structure and mid-foot stability to these running shoes.

As was stated earlier, the major difference between Brooks Adrenaline and Ghost is that Adrenaline GTS is a stability shoe.

This means it will help you to control your overpronation or in other words inward rolling of your feet.

This helps you with an improved gait and better efficiency.

To make this shoe super comfortable, these are the technologies that come into play:

  • 3D Fit Print
  • DNA LOFT Crash Pad
  • BioMoGo DNA
  • GuideRails Holistic Support System

We have already described most of the above technologies above.

Let’s take a closer look at Books Adrenaline GTS 22‘s GuideRails Holistic Support System and how it will benefit you with injury prevention.

This is one of the most innovative things that Brooks has come up with.

In one of the largest running studies conducted by Brooks, they found that your knees are the ones that are most prone to injuries.

Why?

Because when you land while running, you are most likely to land either of the edges of your foot causing your knees to lose its proper alignment.

These GuideRails will bring back your foot in a proper position helping your knees to maintain its line of motion and stability.

To better understand this, please watch the short video below, where Brooks clearly explains how the GuideRails work and how you will benefit from them.

Now that you understand better the core technological differences of these two shoes, let’s look into the subtleties more.

Also, when you are purchasing or doing research, keep this guide handy. It will be your readymade reference, in case you face any confusion or anomalies.

Now let’s proceed to our showdown.

Comparing Brooks Adrenaline Vs Ghost is not easy as you may have seen above.

However, we tried to take up each aspect of both the shoes and try to provide an objective view.

Outsole

Brooks Ghost 14 has a segmented crash pad that makes your heel-to-toe movement more efficient.

Also, the heel area has blown rubber at the high-impact zones. This ensures the durability of this running shoe.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22, on the other hand, comes with DNA LOFT crash pad cushioning in the forefoot providing you with a very comfortable cushioning.

This crash pad adapts to your ride.

Both, Brooks Ghost and Brooks Adrenaline comes uses DNA LOFT and BioMoGo DNA in their midsoles.

This provides you with a very comfortable, soft, and plush ride.

However, although soft, this midsole material is not squishy.

It doesn’t pack out under your weight and is durable.

The mileage of Brooks Ghost 14 vs Brooks Adrenaline is also comparable.

Both of these shoes have a life span of 300-500 miles.

The upper of both these shoes are very similar as both uses 3D Fit Print technology.

However, I find the styling quotient of Brooks Ghost is better than Brooks Adrenaline.

There is a shaded pattern in Ghost whereas Adrenaline has diagonal lines.

However, this is completely dependent on your choice.

Other than this difference between Brooks Adrenaline vs. Ghost, there is not much as both of them come with the traditional lacing system with laces having contrasting borders.

Weight is where there is a minor difference between these two.

The weight of Brooks Ghost 14 is 8.8oz or 249.5g whereas Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 is around 9.0oz or 255.1g.

This means Adrenaline is heavier than Ghost and although it may not be of any significance for shorter runs, you may feel the pinch in longer races like a marathon.

Also, although, we are not 100% sure, this little bit of extra weight may be because of the added component in the midsole – the GuideRails.

However, as you know, GuideRails gives your knees a lot of protection and helps them to remain injury-free.

So, for us, it seems like a happy trade-off.

Since the upper of these shoes are near-identical, the breathability seems almost the same.

We will give an 8 for the breathability of both these running shoes.

This means if you compare both Brooks Ghost 14 vs Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22, both are highly breathable and keep your feet cool and dry.

This also helps to keep your inner shoe environment healthy and you may not have to deal with the aftermaths of a hot and humid in-shoe environment.

However, this also means that these shoes are not as water-resistant. So, water can easily get into the shoe and drench your feet.

Both Brooks Ghost 14 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 have comparable cushioning.

Brooks has mentioned that the cushion level in both the shoes gets a 2 out of 3 where 3 is their highest level of cushioning.

So, you get a very comfortable and protective running experience with both Brooks Ghost and Brooks Adrenaline.

Also, the inside of the shoe also has a soft, smooth, and seamless finish.

This will not cause any irritation to your skin and minimize the chances of blisters.

Overall, you will get a very comfortable running experience.

Style is something like to each his own.

However, I find Brooks Ghost to be more stylish than Adrenaline.

Brooks Ghost has a faded diagonal pattern on its side with a contrasting color.

Somehow I like that a lot and I find Adrenaline’s pattern to be kind of boring.

Other than this difference, these two running shoes look almost the same and are a bit pointy to help you with your speed and performance.

Here also both Brooks Ghost and Brooks Adrenaline are similar.

Both of them are designed to perform on your daily runs and also for longer runs.

However, as it is true with most running shoes, these are meant to last up to a distance of 300 to 500 miles.

This is a very important thing that you need to put into practice (if not doing already) – Write down the date you first used the shoes.

Also, after every run, you can write it down in a log.

Another easy option can be your running app which will automatically update the distance traveled in your running shoes provided you have set it up to track it.

Due to the presence of BioMoGo DNA and DNA LOFT, the midsole of these shoes are very soft and cushy.

Also, they are very shock absorbing. On the inside, they have a memory foam kind of insole which provides you with additional cushioning.

However, a significant difference between Brooks Ghost and Adrenaline is that Adrenaline comes with GuideRails.

This is a very useful feature as it will provide additional protection to your knees.

Brooks doesn’t have this feature most probably because it is meant for neutral runners.

Both of these running shoes are fairly similar when it comes to responsiveness.

This is primarily because their midsoles are made with the same materials.

Also, if you observe the overall structure of these running shoes, they are pointy and arch upwards a bit.

This helps them to add that spring and bounce under your feet.

In other words, these shoes are responsive and will provide you with a good amount of bounce during your running.

Brooks Adrenaline 21 is meant for people with overpronation. So, they are capable of supporting people with low to medium arch.

This helps a person with flat feet to get proper arch support and run without being susceptible to injuries.

On the other hand, Brooks Ghost 14 is more for people with medium to high arches.

So, if you are someone with low arches or flat feet, you will have to endure a lot of ain when if you wear Brooks Ghost 14 shoes.

In that case, Brooks Adrenaline will be a better choice for you.

Both of these running shoes are made for roads.

This simply means that you will not be able to use them in tracks or trails.

However, you can surely use them in other smooth and flatter surfaces like treadmills or concrete.

They will also work great on cobblestones.

So to summarize, here are the surfaces, where both of these running shoes work great:

  • Roads
  • Concrete
  • Treadmills
  • Cobblestones

Not so great for:

  • Tracks
  • Trails

Although both Brooks Ghost and Adrenaline are similar in their usage there are some subtle differences.

Brooks Adrenaline can be used for:

  • Road running (all kinds except tracks and trails)
  • Walking

Brooks Ghost can be used for:

  • Road Running (all kinds except tracks and trails)
  • Cross-training

Both Brooks Ghost 14 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 are launched this year.

The Ghost in April 2021 and the Adrenaline in November 2021.

So, as with any latest model, they are pricier than the previous version.

Also, as you know, once a new model was launched, the price of the previous models goes drastically down.

A similar thing has happened with Brooks Ghost 13 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21.

Both of these shoe prices have gone down drastically while their quality remains as amazing as ever.

So, if you are planning to purchase a new running shoe but won’t like to spend so much, go for these models.

They are cheaper and will provide you with all the amazing benefits of using them.

Both of these shoes have great traction as the outsole has rubber compound at the high impact zones.

This provides you with great grip and traction and will help you keep you stable even on wet surfaces.

So, you can run your heart out even when it is rainy outside without the chances of slipping on the wet ground.

The forefoot of Brooks Ghost 14 has a segmented crash pad.

This makes these running shoes decently flexible.

However, they are not so flexible that you can bend them with only two fingers.

This makes them perfect for any kind of running and you also don’t have to sustain an injury due to over flexibility.

And this is true for Adrenaline GTS 22 also. They are decently flexible yet not too much.

Brooks has done a great job in striking the balance between flexibility and stiffness and provides you with ultimate running experience.

One thing though, it seems like Adrenaline GTS 22 is a tad stiffer than Brooks Ghost.

However, since this is too early to be conclusive about these shoes, let’s wait to hear from other users as well.

These two running shoes are very stable and you will never feel wobbly in any of these shoes.

However, between these two shoes, Adrenaline GTS 22 provides more stability to your knees.

It will never let it go out of its line of motion thus minimizing the injury to it.

Brooks Ghost 14 doesn’t have this feature and this one of the main differences that both of these shoes have.

Other than that, both of them have sufficient padding at the collar and the tongue.

This helps them to keep the ankle joint stable and you don’t accidentally end up twisting it.

Drop or heel-to-toe drop as we call it is the difference in height between your heels and your balls of feet from the ground.

Both of these running shoes are not at all low drop running shoes.

The heel-to-toe drop of these shoes is 12 mm.

Yes, here also both Brooks Ghost 14 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 are similar.

Now that we have seen the differences between Brooks Ghost 14 and Adrenaline GTS 22 in-depth and also their similarities, let’s take a look at the alternatives that are present.

Why alternatives?

The thing is, both of these running shoes are great however, they are not one size fits all.

Also, some of our users have a preference for other brands.

It may also so happen that when you finally decide to purchase one of them, you may think of trying out some other models just to be sure.

In that case, also, these alternatives will be great for you to choose from or at least try it out.

FAQs

What is the difference between Brooks Ghost and Adrenaline?

The main difference between Brooks Ghost and Adrenaline is that Brooks Ghost is a neutral running shoe, whereas Brooks Adrenaline is a stability running shoe.

Also, Adrenaline comes with more knee protection than Brooks Ghost.

Is Brooks Adrenaline good for supination?

No, Brooks Adrenaline is not good for supination.

It is meant for runners with overpronation or for those whose feet roll inward after hitting the ground.

Supination is exactly the opposite of overpronation.

If you have supination, your feet roll outside upon hitting the ground.

So, if you wear Brooks Adrenaline, you will increase your chances of injuries like shin splints, plantar fasciitis, runners’ knee, etc.

Also, if you have supination, then Brooks Ghost will be a better choice for you, rather than Adrenaline.

If you have severe underpronation (supination), Brooks Dyad 11 will be a better choice as it is specifically made for runners with underpronation.

Is Brooks Ghost a neutral shoe?

Yes, Brooks Ghost is a neutral shoe and is meant for runners with neutral pronation.

Also, it is capable of supporting runners with underpronation (although not severe).

However, they will not be able to support you if you have low arches.

These running shoes are meant for runners with high arches.

If you have a low arch, you may be uncomfortable and may have to deal with foot pain.

If you are dealing with low arches, then it’s best to avoid this running shoe.

Although, Brooks Ghost 14 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 have comparable features like cushioning and heel-to-toe drop, for us the winner is Adrenaline GTS.

Why?

The simple reason being it’s enhanced runners’ knee protection.

The knees of a runner are the most injury-prone joint of her body.

We do everything under our control to avoid any kind of injury.

However, Brooks Ghost simply doesn’t provide this additional attention to your knees and Brooks Adrenaline does.

As mentioned above, it has in-built GuideRails which brings your knees to the line of motion and protects it from sustaining any injury.

So, we have picked Adrenaline as our winner.

We have tried to provide you with all the required details in this comprehensive “Brooks Adrenaline Vs Ghost review”.

This will help you to make the correct purchase decision.

We have provided you with all the features to look out for in each shoe and what to expect when you buy them.

Also, we have picked out the winner based on some enhanced features of Brooks Adrenaline.
