Brooks Adrenaline Vs. Glycerin – A head to head comparison

In the above sections, we have covered all the broad differences between Brooks Adrenaline and Brooks Glycerin.

In the following sections, we will cover all the other differences between Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 and Brooks Glycerin 18.

We have summarized all the differences in the images below.

You may get the details you are looking for from there, otherwise, just read on…

Outsole

Both Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 and Brooks Glycerin 18 have blown rubber in the outsole. Also, the rubber stretching pattern of the rubber in both the shoes are similar.

However, the major difference in the outsole is how the segmentation or the deep grooves are present in the shoes.

Brooks Adrenaline has a deep groove at the start of the forefoot or near the balls of the foot.

For Glycerin, it is more on the arches and the start of the forefoot.

Also, apparently to the eye, the grooves of Adrenaline seems to be deeper and that provides the flexibility of this shoe.

For Brooks Glycerin 18 this is not the case and seems like the flexibility may be a bit less than Adrenaline. This makes sense, as Glycerin has more cushioning than Adrenaline, and providing more flexibility to this shoe will only open up the runner for more injury.

Midsole

The midsole of these two shoes is a bit different although the basic material used to build the midsoles is the same.

Brooks Adrenaline comes with a balanced yet soft cushioning. It has the responsive BioMoGo DNA cushioning placed above the soft DNA LOFT crash pad.

They work together to provide springiness along with soft cushioning underfoot.

Also, this is a running shoe meant for overpronators. So, Brooks has taken special care to minimize your excess knee movement by introducing the GuideRails Holistic Support System which is becoming the norm of most of the overpronation shoes from Brooks.

As for Brooks Glycerin, it comes with a super-soft cushioning. The midsole and outsole ratio is reconfigured in this version of Glycerin. This allowed for an increase in DNA LOFT for even more softness underfoot.

However, this added softness doesn’t compromise the responsiveness or durability of this shoe.

Also, for step-in comfort, Glycerin comes with an Ortholite sock-liner that provides premium softness.

Upper

The upper of Brooks Adrenaline is made from 3D Fit Print mesh. This is a new streamlined, engineered mesh that offers structure and proper fit. This improved structure of the mesh helps Adrenaline to shave some of its weight.

Brooks Glycerin also comes with 3D Fit Print technology, that helps you to have a better fit. Also, the updated stretch of the double jacquard mesh is engineered for strategic breathability, flexibility, and structure.

Width-wise, Brooks Adrenaline has more number of widths like Normal, Narrow B, Wide 2E, and Extra Wide 4E for men and Normal, Narrow 2A, Wide D, and Extra Wide 2E for women.

For Brooks Glycerin, there is a lesser number of widths available for both men and women. For men, it is only Normal and Wide 2E and for women, it is Normal, Narrow 2A, and Wide D.

In fact with sizes also, Adrenaline will provide you with one more size than Brooks Glycerin 18 for Women. In Adrenaline, available sizes for women are 5.0 to 13.0 whereas, in Glycerin, it is from 5.0 to 12.0.

However, for men, such a difference in sizes doesn’t exist and for both the shoes it is from 7.0 to 15.0.

At the time of writing this post, there are more color variations available for Adrenaline whereas, for Glycerin, the number of color choices is only a handful.

Brooks Adrenaline looks more stylish and less bulky whereas Brooks Glycerin looks a bit bulky and big.

Weight

In terms of weight, both Brooks Adrenaline GTS and Brooks Glycerin are not much different.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS weighs around 9.4oz/266.5g for women and for men it weighs around 10.6oz/300.5g.

Brooks Glycerin weighs around 9oz/255.1g for women’s version and for men’s version it weighs around 10.2oz/289.2g.

So, while using either of them, you will not be held down by excessive weight and in both, your performance will not suffer due to the weight of the shoe.

Also, if you are wondering about the extra weight of Adrenaline…then my calculated guess is the added GuideRails. This adds to the weight, although not significant.

Price

As for the price, there is some difference between Brooks Adrenaline GTS vs Glycerine.

Adrenaline will cost you a little more than $100 whereas Glycerin will cost you near $150.

This is understandable as Brooks Glycerin has more cushioning than Brooks Adrenaline and as in most shoes, this is what determines the price of the shoe.

However, these two versions are recently launched. If you don’t want to go for these but still want to pick up a Glycerin or Adrenaline then go for the previous versions.

Since the launch of this current version of these running shoes, prices of the earlier versions, that is, Brooks Glycerin 17 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 19 have dropped drastically.

These are all the similarities and the differences between Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 and Brooks Glycerin 18.
