Brooks Adrenaline Vs. Asics kayano- A head to head comparison
In the above sections, we have covered all the major differences between Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 and Asics Gel Cumulus 23.
However, as mentioned above, we will take up each part of the shoe and will compare them in detail.
So, with a big yawn, let’s proceed…
Outsole
Brooks Adrenaline has pieces of blown rubber in the outsole that provides you with stability and great ride quality.
Asics Gel-Cumulus also has blown rubber as the outsole, however, rather than covering the entire length of the shoe, there are pieces of rubber arranged in a fashion of leaves on the sides of the imaginary branch. This leaves a center vacant spot along the length of the shoe while covering the high impact areas.
Brooks Adrenaline has a segmented crashpad pattern that provides you with an excellent heel-to-toe transition. Similar is the case in Asics Gel-Cumulus. It has high abrasion rubber creating segments throughout the shoe. This results in more flexibility and will provide you with a snappy ride.
Both of these running shoes will provide you with excellent grip and is great for long-distance running.
Midsole
It is responsive, snappy, and provides you with a good energy return.
In Brooks Adrenaline you have DNA LOFT as the midsole material and provides you with great impact resistance and very smooth transitions.
However, here the energy return is a bit dampened due to the nature of the midsole.
Also, Brooks Adrenaline comes with a Holistic Guide Rail that brings back your knees to the line of motion, thus minimizing the effect of pronation on your knees, hip, and your entire lower body.
As mentioned above, apart from Gel-technology, Asics Gel-Cumulus also have FLYTEFOAM in the midsole. However, rather than one, it has two layers of FLYTEFOAM which provides a durable piece of foam for improved shock absorption.
In this current version of Adrenaline GTS 21, DNA LOFT has extension till forefoot. This provides you with very soft comfort from heel to toe.
Upper
Brooks Adrenaline GTS comes with 3D print technology in the upper, which will render you support and structure. In comparison, Asics Gel Cumulus comes with a multi-directional mesh that adds support in some areas and more space in other areas for improved breathability.
Adrenaline GTS 21 comes in various widths like Normal, Narrow 2A, wide D, Extra wide 2E for women. And for men, it is Normal, Narrow B, Wide 2E, Extra wide 4E.
Asics Cumulus 23 has toe-box widths of standard and wide for women, and for men, it ranges from standard, wide, and x-wide.
Asics Kayano has more range of colors for both men and women. On the other hand, you will find limited but popular colors in Brooks Adrenaline for both men and women.
Style-wise I like Cumulus more. It has bright vibrant colors that are eye-catchy and will make you stand out from the crowd. Most of the colors of Brooks Adrenaline GTS are dull and sort of boring. There are some colors that are catchy, but most of them are not.
However, the style choice mostly depends on your preference. The thing which I find dull and boring may be interesting for you.
Weight
In terms of weight, both Adrenaline GTS is slightly heavier than Asics Gel-Cumulus. This could be because Brooks Adrenaline has an additional piece in the midsole, the GuideRails. Other than that, the midsole also has a rubber component which tends to be heavier than typical foam.
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 weighs around 10.4 oz /294.8g for men and 9.1 oz/258g for women.
Asics Gel-Cumulus weighs around 9.9oz/280g for men and 8.1oz/230g for women.
Price
In comparison, Asics Gel-Cumulus will cost you less than Brooks Adrenaline GTS.
Brooks Adrenaline will cost you around $10 more than Asics Gel Cumulus.
